Point of Sale (POS)

Purpose

The POS module is the live selling environment for cashiers. It covers the cashier screen where transactions are processed, the orders history for reviewing and managing completed sales, and the shifts view for tracking cashier sessions and financial totals. It is used by cashiers, shift supervisors, and operations managers.

Cashier Screen

The cashier screen is the live selling environment. It opens on a dedicated PoS subdomain and stays on screen for the entire shift. It has four persistent elements — top bar, left sidebar, category navigation, and Current Order panel — plus a main area that switches between three modes.

Top bar

  • Search — type a product name to filter the product grid in Menu mode.
  • Fullscreen (⤢) — expand the cashier screen to fill the display.
  • Home — return to the main Centric environment.
  • Lock — lock the cashier screen; requires login to resume.
  • User / Warehouse indicator — shows the logged-in cashier's name and the assigned warehouse.

Four buttons control which view fills the main area. The active mode is highlighted.

  • Menu — switches the main area to the product card grid with category navigation. This is the default view on entry.
  • Scan — switches the main area to the cart view with a barcode search input and Price Inquiry.
  • Orders — navigates to the POS Orders screen (leaves the cashier screen).
  • Products — switches the main area to the paginated product stock table.
  • Collapse (‹) — hides the sidebar to give the main area more space; tap again to restore.
  • Category navigation bar — tap any category to filter the product grid to that category. "All Categories" is pinned at the left and always visible; all other categories scroll horizontally behind it.
  • Add to Cart — tap on any product card to add that item to the current order in the Current Order panel.

Scan mode

  • Barcode search input — type or scan a barcode to find a product and add it to the cart directly.
  • Price Inquiry — look up a product's price without adding it to the cart.
  • Clear All — remove every item from the current cart at once.

Products mode

A paginated table of all products showing current stock levels. Use this view to look up stock quantities before adding items or to find products not visible in the Menu card grid.

  • Product Name — the product's name as configured in inventory.
  • Barcode — the product's barcode value; shows N/A if no barcode is configured.
  • Quantity — current stock level for this product.
  • Price — selling price in SAR (﷼).
  • Warehouseawaiting business-team confirmation.
  • Actionawaiting business-team confirmation.
  • Pagination — use Previous, page numbers, or Next to move through the full product list.

Current Order panel

Visible on the right in all modes. Tracks the active order from item selection through checkout.

  • Pending List — view all orders currently on hold.
  • Hold (‖) — place the current order on hold so another customer can be served; retrieve it later from Pending List.
  • Delivery / Takeaway — toggle the service mode for the order. Takeaway is the default.
  • Cart — displays the line items added to the current order.
  • Clear All — remove every item from the cart.
  • Add Note — attach a free-text note to the order before checkout.
  • Sub Total — the order total before VAT, in SAR (﷼).
  • VAT — the VAT amount calculated on the order, in SAR (﷼).
  • Check Out — proceed to the payment screen; the button displays the running total.

Orders

Lists all POS transactions. Accessible from two places: the main Centric sidebar under POS → Orders, or by tapping Orders in the cashier screen's left sidebar. Both show the same data. Use it to review order history, filter by date or status, print invoices, and process returns.

Order list

  • Order Number — unique identifier for the order (e.g., ORD-01414). Tap the column header to sort ascending or descending.
  • Customer Name — the customer assigned to the order; shows "Guest Customer" if none was selected at checkout.
  • Date — date and time the order was placed. Tap the column header to sort.
  • Status — current state of the order. Values: Processed, Pending, Partial, Returned.
  • Type — service mode selected at checkout. Values: Dine In, Takeaway, Delivery.
  • Payment Method — how the order was paid. Values: Cash, Bank Card.
  • Gateway — payment gateway used for card transactions. Values: Mada, Nami, DigitalPay, NeoLeap. Shows N/A for cash orders.
  • Amount — order total in SAR (﷼). Tap the column header to sort.
  • Delivery Info — delivery details for Delivery-type orders. Empty for Takeaway and Dine In orders.
  • Filter — tap to open the filter panel.
  • Pagination — use ← Previous, page numbers, or Next → to move through order history.

Filter panel

Opens as a right-side panel. Filter options differ by access path.

Via cashier screen (Orders button in left sidebar):

  • Creation Date — narrow results to a date range; enter a start and end date.
  • Status — filter by order status: Processed, Pending, Partial, or Returned.
  • Payment Method — filter by payment method: Cash or Bank Card.
  • Gateway — filter by payment gateway: Mada, Nami, DigitalPay, or NeoLeap.
  • Order Type — filter by service mode: Dine In, Takeaway, or Delivery.
  • Apply Filter — run the filter.
  • Cancel — dismiss the panel without filtering.

Via main Centric sidebar (POS → Orders):

  • Created Date — narrow results by date; calendar date picker.
  • Status — filter by order status: Processed, Pending, or Partial.
  • Payment Method — filter by payment method: Cash or Bank Card.
  • Reset — clear all active filters.
  • Apply Filter — run the filter.

Row actions

Each order row has action controls in the last column. Controls differ by access path.

Via cashier screen (Orders button in left sidebar):

Each row has a button that opens a three-item menu.

  • View — opens the Order Invoice for this order.
  • Return — opens the Return modal to process a refund for this order.
  • Debit Note — opens the Debit Note modal to apply an additional charge to this order.

Via main Centric sidebar (POS → Orders):

Each row has four icon buttons.

  • Eye (View)not yet implemented.
  • Printer — prints an invoice for this order.
  • Download (↓) — downloads a PDF of the order details.
  • — opens a menu with a Share Link option.

Order Invoice

A bilingual Simplified Tax Invoice (EN/AR). Read-only — no fields to edit.

  • Order No. — the order number.
  • Cashier Name — the cashier who processed the order.
  • Date — date and time of the original transaction.
  • VAT Number — the business's registered VAT number.
  • Barcode — scannable barcode for the order.
  • Print — send the invoice to a printer.
  • Cancel — close the modal without printing.

Return

Allows refunding items from an existing order. The modal is split into two panels.

Left panel — order summary:

  • Invoice No — the order number being refunded.
  • Customer Name — the customer on the original order.
  • Date — original order date and time.
  • Served By — cashier who processed the original order.
  • Paid — total amount paid on the original order, in SAR (﷼).
  • Discount — discount applied to the original order, in SAR (﷼).
  • Return — confirm and submit the return.
  • Cancel — close without processing a return.

Right panel — item selection:

  • Item search — search within the order's items by product name.
  • Quantity controls (−/+) — set the number of units to return for each item.
  • Returnable — badge shown on items eligible for return.
  • Total Refunds — running refund total as quantities are selected, in SAR (﷼).

Debit Note

Used to apply an additional charge to an existing order (e.g., under-billing correction, freight charge). The modal is split into two panels.

Left panel — order summary:

  • Invoice No — the order number being corrected.
  • Customer Name — the customer on the original order.
  • Date — original order date and time.
  • Paid — total amount paid on the original order, in SAR (﷼).
  • Discount — discount applied to the original order, in SAR (﷼).
  • Submit Correction — confirm and submit the debit note.
  • Cancel — close without submitting.

Right panel — charge details:

  • Original Billed Items — read-only list of items on the original order with their VAT rates and amounts.
  • Reason (required) — select the reason for the additional charge. Values: Correction of earlier invoicing error (under-billing), Essential change or amendment in the supply, Amendment of the supply value (pre-agreed), Cancellation or suspension of the supplies, Additional Freight/Transport Charge, Other.
  • Taxable Amount (required) — the pre-VAT amount of the additional charge, in SAR (﷼).
  • VAT (required) — the VAT rate to apply to the additional charge. Default: القيمة المضافة (%15).
  • Vat Amount — calculated automatically from Taxable Amount × VAT rate.
  • Total — calculated total of the additional charge including VAT.
  • Remarks — optional free-text note for the correction.
  • Total Additional Charge — running total of the debit note amount.

Shifts

A read-only list of all cashier shift sessions. Accessible from the main Centric sidebar under POS → Shifts. Use it to review shift timings, inspect financial totals per cashier, and identify cash discrepancies.

Shift list

  • Shift ID — unique identifier for the shift session (e.g., SH-00001). Use the search bar to look up a specific shift by ID.
  • Cashier Name — the cashier who opened the shift.
  • Warehouse — the warehouse the shift was assigned to.
  • Start Date, Time — date and time the shift was opened.
  • End Date, Time — date and time the shift was closed.
  • Duration — total length of the shift.
  • Open Amount — the float amount entered when the shift was opened, in SAR (﷼).
  • Total Income Amount — total revenue collected during the shift, in SAR (﷼).
  • Cash Income — portion of total income collected in cash, in SAR (﷼).
  • Actual Cash — physical cash counted at shift close, in SAR (﷼).
  • Cash Discrepancy — difference between Cash Income and Actual Cash; highlights overages or shortages, in SAR (﷼).
  • Card Income — portion of total income collected by card, in SAR (﷼).
  • Refund Amount — total value of refunds processed during the shift, in SAR (﷼).
  • Status — current state of the shift. Values: Open (shift is active), Close (shift has ended).
  • Export — download the current shift list as a .xlsx file.
  • Pagination — use Previous, page numbers, or Next to move through shift history. Results per page is configurable.

Filter panel

Opens as a right-side panel. Tap Apply Filter to run or Reset to clear all filters.

  • Warehouses — filter by warehouse; searchable dropdown. Values are sourced from the Warehouse module in Centric.
  • Status — filter by shift status: Open or Close; searchable dropdown.
  • Start Date — filter by shift open date; enter a date range.
  • Close Date — filter by shift close date; enter a date range.
